August Films is a Palestine-based film production and distribution company dedicated to developing and producing independent Palestinian cinema rooted in place, memory, and lived experience. Founded with a commitment to telling stories from and about Palestine, the company believes in the power of cinema as both an artistic language and a cultural archive, a way to preserve voices, histories, and realities that deserve to be seen and heard internationally.
August Films focuses on films with strong cinematic value and meaningful content, supporting works that combine artistic vision with emotional and social depth.
Beyond film production, August Films offers a wide range of production services across historic Palestine, including line production, equipment and crew coordination, location scouting, and full production execution for local and international projects.
The company also works closely with filmmakers to develop the creative and visual identity of their projects, offering expertise in pitch decks, storyboards, story mood development, visual research, branding, and color palettes tailored for cinema and film presentation.
The company’s spirit is inspired by the apricot tree — and, more specifically, its leaf — a symbol deeply tied to the founders’ village and to the fleeting nature of the seasons in Palestine. Apricot season arrives suddenly, glows intensely for a brief moment, and disappears almost as quickly as it came. Its beauty lies in impermanence.
Cinema, to us, carries the same fragile urgency.
A film captures moments that might otherwise vanish: a face, a street, a voice, a memory, a homeland in transformation. Like the short apricot season, stories are temporary unless someone preserves them.
